What Is Section 508?
Section 508 is a part of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which was intended to end discrimination against people with disabilities. It was enacted by the U.S. Congress on August 7, 1998 and became U.S. Law on June 21, 2001.
What Are Section 508 Requirements?
There are many requirements outlined in Section 508 some of which are listed below.
- Include descriptive text for all images
- Provide methods of skipping navigation links
- Summarize content of graphs, charts, and tables
- Provide captions or transcripts for video and audio
- Ensure information conveyed by color is also conveyed in absence of color
